The EU Commission has recently published a paper recommending that the UK switches is Polling Day from the traditional Thursday to a Sunday. It states this would increase tunrout as voting won’t occur on a working day which has been shown to put many people off.
A sensible recommendation you might think. However the government has rejected this becuase, guess why! Yes you guessed it: “the impact upon faith groups.”
This is despite voting turnouts are at an all time low, as is church attendance.
So the religious sensibilites of a few have yet another detrimental impact upon our democracy!
