Preying (sic) on the ill, gullible and desperate
We get asked quite a bit why we can’t just let people have their faith and believe what they want? I believe that the content of this story sums it up quite succinctly.
A UK based Satellite TV show called the “Miracle Hour” has been convincing people to give up conventional treatment for “faith healing.” (Full story on the BBC). Let us make no bones about this, this is killing people and it is justification for faith, pure and simple.
It is religious faith and that alone, which is responsible for leading people into the mindset of giving up treatment for serious medical conditions. We don’t care what your faith is, because this is what blind faith can lead to. This is why we oppose and challenge religious faith wherever, and whenever we can. Good that some charities are criticizing the programme, but until they also start challenging the very concept of faith that led to this we will not get very far!
